Texas-born Beatrice Smith-Greening grew up in New Mexico. At an early age, she
studied oils under a private instructor. She was amazed at the ability to put paint
down and have it really look like something.
Bea enjoyed scenes with giant mountains, tall evergreens, snow and deep streams,
so she painted from photographs. Her work continued to improve through marriage
and children. With children grown and a move to the Pacific Northwest, she
noticed that the landscapes she wanted to paint were right in her own backyard.
Wanting to do something of lasting value, she began taking classes from local
artists, taking workshops and reading books. She found the information she
acquired in these ways useful in creating her paintings.
Becoming bored with oils, she challenged herself with the use of watercolors at
Mt. Hood Community College. SHE WAS HOOKED! “It was exciting seeing a
rainbow of color mixed with water create its own designs and subject. What a
journey of pleasure it is to take that to the finish line and present a beautiful work
of art!”
Her work has been accepted into juried shows both internationally and locally, and
has been collected by art lovers around the world.
She lives and paints in Happy Valley, Oregon and also teaches workshops and
conducts classes in her studio. She can be reached by phone at 503-654-6496 and
